What is an AudienceBakery?

AudienceBakery was started by Phil Hall in 2007. A former station owner, Phil is one of the world’s leading radio programmers. Radio stations around the world as well as one out of ten radio stations in the USA have carried his programming. As VP/Programming at ABC Radio Networks, he managed ABC MusicRadio and set the standard for 24 hour music formats. He’s designed mobile, research, data, and delivery technologies through sister company UnCommonSinse Technologies.

We have created radio programming for some of the biggest radio stations in the world’s biggest markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tokyo, San Francisco, and Dallas. We create programming for the world’s biggest brands including ABC, CBS, NBC, Disney, Walmart, Hertz, Lowe’s, State Farm, Acura, Captain Morgan, and others.

What's included in the service?

AudienceBakery Radio offers a variety of service levels. The basic package includes your music library, 24/7 programming, talent for 6am-12midnight Monday-Sunday. Coming soon streaming and royalties and new media tools including mobile apps. We'll be adding a robust set of revenue tools. Additional services include 24/7 voicetracking, news, sports, weather, station and client jingles, commercial production, graphic design, sales, management, and programming consulting, and more.

Can I control what music is played?

AudienceBakery Radio commits substantial resources to find out exactly what the audience for your format wants to hear. We use top notch winning major market Program Directors who actually specialize in the formats they program. You can have more control over the music on your station if you want a fully customized format. Otherwise, the music is programmed by our experts to help insure a maximum return on your investment.

What can I control?

AudienceBakery Radio is designed to offer maximum flexibility in your non-music programming. We offer a basic package of 247 programming. Beyond that you only pay the services you want. We include a certain number of commercial breaks per hour, if you want to run fewer breaks you can. Your commercial load can vary from no spots to almost anything you need. You decide if you want news, sports, or local weather. Voicetracks, news, sports, and weather can be fully customized. If you want a unique sound on your station, we can create a custom radio station for you. Cost varies by level of customization.

What do I need to get ready?

A dedicated high-speed broadband connection and someone to do the initial wiring at the station. The AudienceBakery Radio Station Player easily integrates into your current automation system using a simple relay closure USB port. You will need someone to do the final wiring and interface with your current system. Secondly, you’ll need a dedicated broadband Internet connection. When you use a shared connection you risk the introduction of viruses and other issues in your on-air system. AudienceBakery does not support or guarantee any product with an Internet connection that is shared. Using a shared broadband connection may violate the terms of your contract.

How does it work?

We deliver your AudienceBakery RadioPlayer ready to go on the air. All you need to do is install it and interface it with your current automation system. The programming plays from the RadioPlayer and commercials continue to play on your current system. Nothing new to learn or procedures to be changed. Programming is delivered via high speed Internet connection to your RadioPlayer which easily integrates with your existing automation and traffic system. No relearning the wheel. Our automation works similar to a satellite receiver with a couple of exceptions. The quality is greatly enhanced over satellite and you completely control the length of your commercial breaks with no fill songs or other unnecessary materials.

How much does it cost?

AudienceBakery Radio is a cash only service. This means no affidavits to fill out, no obnoxious spots for condoms or satellite radio. You control 100% of the inventory. We require payment in advance for the month of service that follows. Like the electric company, if we do not receive a timely payment your service will be interrupted or discontinued. You can pay online with credit card or bank draft or by check. Late payments require an approved credit card or bank draft payment. Late fees, a reconnect charge, and increased monthly rates may be applied in order to restore service discontinued for lack of or late payment.

Why don't you barter?

Here’s why barter is not a good idea for you: When you barter with a radio network it costs you money. You have to give up four to six spots an hour, your traffic department has to fill out affidavits, and your audience hears spots for condoms, hemorrhoid medicine, feminine hygiene products, and satellite radio. That’s just the beginning. The radio people broadcasters have trusted for years are gone. No more ABC, SMN, or Jones. The original Westwood One is gone. Westwood One is now owned by Cumulus. Enough said. The fact is, the networks do not care about you because you’re not in a large or major market.

Here’s why barter doesn’t work for us: It increases our expenses drastically. We don’t get paid for 90 days because of national network business. We have to “charge” you more by adding commercials, fewer services, little to no customer service – all to “control expenses.” Everyone at AudienceBakery financially participates in the success of your station and our company. We’re all working toward the same goal and all on the same team.
